SK 96/48 forward conveying elements are compact segmented feeding screw blocks exclusively designed for Ky SK96 co-rotating twin screw extruders. The model specification 96/48 stands for 96mm spiral pitch, paired with only 48mm short effective axial length — a sharp contrast to the full-length SK 96/96 feeding element.
This short-size SK conveying block solves layout limitations of short barrel sections. Engineers stack multiple SK 96/48 segments to build stepwise compression gradients, instead of using one single long SK96/96 block. Its miniaturized body fits narrow feed transition zones, pre-melting sections and devolatilization front conveying zones where long screw segments cannot be installed.
The single forward flight spiral retains the wide deep feeding channel of the SK series, while cutting axial length in half. It delivers stable low-speed precise feeding without excessive material throughputs, perfectly matching compound formulas requiring gradual pressure build-up. All internal splined bores follow SK96 standard shaft dimensions for direct plug-and-play replacement.
48mm half-length design greatly reduces single-piece occupation in the extruder barrel. Operators freely combine 2–4 pieces of SK 96/48 elements to adjust feeding length flexibly, rather than being restricted to fixed 96mm full-length SK96/96 blocks. Ideal for modified extruder barrels with shortened feed transition zones.
Multiple stacked SK 96/48 blocks create multi-stage mild material compression. Unlike SK96/96 which brings one-time high-volume fast feeding, this short segment slows down material delivery and builds pressure step by step. It eliminates sudden pressure surges that cause bubbling for sensitive polymers like filled masterbatch and recycled plastic.
SK96/96 only fits the initial raw material feed throat. SK 96/48 expands usable scenes: feed transition area, front melting zone, pre-devolatilization conveying section, side feeder material transfer channel. It acts as a transitional buffer between large-pitch feeding blocks and small-pitch melting segments.
The shortened spiral flight limits instantaneous material throughput. It avoids overflow and bridging for low bulk-density powder, fine filler and lightweight additives, where the high-capacity SK96/96 element easily causes material backflow. Short residence time per segment reduces local overheating risk.
